Minnesota Movie Theatre Chain Launches New Subscription Program
Ever since the original MoviePass debacle, movie theater chains have been experimenting with their own subscription programs, now a popular chain with locations throughout Minnesota is taking a swing.
Theater chains like AMC and Cinemark, both with locations in Minnesota, have subscription programs that allow subscribers to see movies and get discounts on things like food and drinks.

New Subscription Program from Marcus Theatres
Marcus Theatres is now getting into the subscription game, with their new Marcus Movie Club. This isn't the first venture into a subscription program, Marcus did experiment with Movie Flex, but it was never widely available and eventually scrapped for this new subscription model.
How Much is the Movie Club Subscription?
The new subscription is $9.99 a month, with that, subscribers will get one regular movie ticket, 20% discount on concessions, and no fees. Plus, unused monthly tickets are allowed to rollover as long as you're a member, and all additional regular movie tickets are just $9.99, allowing you to extend the benefit for family and friends that join you.
This does not replace their Magical Movie Rewards, the reward program that offers discounts, free refills, and free birthday popcorn for all members will continue as usual.
Unlike the previous subscription program Marcus offered, this membership seems to be available at all Marcus locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the several other states where Marcus has a footprint. This includes theaters in Duluth, Rochester, St. Cloud, and the Twin Cities.
How Much Money Could it Save Me?
Marcus says that the new Marcus Movie Club could save active movie goers over $100 per year. With the average adult movie tickets costing $12-$14, this is certainly a good way to see the latest movies at a discount.
