Various hospital groups around Minnesota are starting to share the most popular names given to babies throughout 2024, with a big name in the Twin Cities metro area sharing a first look at what the most popular names of the year have been based on births in their facilities.

A trend in recent years has been pretty traditional names for both boys and girls.

Data for Minnesota from 2023 according to the Social Security Administration saw the names Theodore, Henry, Oliver, Liam, and Liam leading the pack for boys and Charlotte, Olivia, Evelyn, Emma, and Amelia for girls last year.

Top baby names in Minnesota for 2024 according to M Health Fairview

When it comes to girls, there's a new name at the top of the list - at least among the 12,000 babies born in the M Health Fairview facilities across Minnesota. Last year, the top girl's name in Minnesota was Charlotte.

This year, Olivia moved up from #2 to the top spot, with Charlotte dropping to #4. Here's a look at the full top 10 list of girls names:
