This isn't much of a surprise, but the Disney Store at the Mall of America is closing its doors this month for the final time.

Disney Store's have been closing around the country and now the final one in Minnesota is set to close on or before May 19th according to the store's website.

The Disney Store has been located on the first floor of the Mall of America for over 20 years and is the final store in Minnesota after the Disney Store at Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka closed its doors recently.

Now the only option to buy stuff from the Disney Store is online at ShopDisney.com or of course, you can fly to one of the many theme parks around the world and do your shopping there.

The first Disney Store was opened in Glendale, California on March 28, 1987, and at its peak in 1997 there were 749 stores around the world, there was even one open at the Miller Hill Mall for a short time.

The Disney Store will close all 18 locations in Canada and only have a handful of stores in the United States including the flagship store located in Times Square in New york City.

Last month Disney released a statement saying, "Over the next year Disney will focus on providing a more seamless, personalized and franchise-focused ecommerce experience through its shopDisney platform which will be complemented by greater integration with Disney Parks apps and social media platforms."
