The best time of the year is here! Spooky season is upon us and that means many things like pumpkin spice everything, haunted attractions and a nightmare of every single dentist: unlimited candy until the end of the month.

Whether you are into haunted attractions that will scare the living daylight out of you or you are looking for a family-friendly event, there is something for you in the Duluth and Superior area. Lucky for us, most of these events do involve some sort of trick-or-treating. Ha!

While we all love candy, we can't deny it probably isn't the best to completely devour candy all month long. A few years ago, I came across a study about how long it takes to burn off each different type of candy. (It never stops me, though.)

Everything is fantastic in moderation. Meanwhile, other candies aren't good even in moderation. There are some gross candies out there and I have to say, Minnesota's favorite Halloween candy of 2022 is definitely that.

A study was done by CandyStore.com that revealed every state's top Halloween candy. To come to the conclusion of the study, they looked at fifteen years of data which means this is one of those studies that is probably very accurate!

So what is Minnesota's top Halloween candy? This year, it is something different: Hot Tamales! I do not understand the appeal of this candy in any way, shape or form. Coming in at number two is Tootsie Pops followed by Skittles.

Things are a bit different this year! Last year, Minnesota's top Halloween candy was actually Tootsie Pops. Tootsie Pops didn't move too far down the list this year, coming in at number two as mentioned.

Wisconsin kept it the same as last year and I have to say, I am much more on Wisconsin's side this year! Butterfinger was named the top Halloween candy for the state followed by Starburst and Hot Tamales.

Another fun tidbit from this study? Spending on Halloween candy is supposed to be the highest ever and way higher than the past few years when we were quarantining due to the pandemic. They also got some insight from candy manufacturers to concoct this delicious study.

So what is the overwhelming favorite? Reese's came in at number one and I totally understand that one! Skittles, M&M's and Starburst round out the top four. Surprisingly enough, Hot Tamales came in at number four so I guess Minnesota isn't so unusual after all.
