With summer-like temperatures hanging around for the last weekend of September, I took the advice of our fall colors hotspot blog, and headed to the Grand Marais area for the day on Saturday.

My journey started with a trip up the Gunflint Trail, and continued with stops heading south toward the Twin Ports. I really wish I would have had more time to explore, but my quick day trip still proved very fun. The good news for fall leaf lovers is that many spots around the region have yet to peak. Much of the area between Silver Bay down toward Duluth and eastward from Superior to the Bayfield area will peak over the next week or so, leaving plenty of time to get out yet.

I also kicked on the travel cam quick to capture a little of my drive around the backroads of Temperance River State Park, which is a gorgeous drive I would absolutely recommend if you've never done it.
