Chilly winter-like temperatures over the weekend gave us a dose of the looming season ahead.

Our fall season has generally been pretty mild across Wisconsin, so a couple of days of temperatures at or below the freezing point with the addition of some wind to create windchills stood out a bit across the Northland.

While the week ahead does have warmer temperatures in store once again, our little dose of wintery temperatures also brought with it some snow.

Across portions of Northern Wisconsin, flurries to a few inches of snow fell, but some spots saw pretty significant snow, with up to a foot falling! Yes, you read that right. 12 inches of snow.

The culprit? Well, the cold wind blowing out of the north over Lake Superior brought a lot of moisture to shore, where lake effect snow fell.

Measurable snow over the weekend reached as far south as Brantwood, near Tomahawk, Wisconsin. Places like Iron River and New Post saw a few inches of snow, but a band of heavier snow set up from the Hurley area south to Butternut, where more significant snowfall amounts fell.

Here are the snowfall totals as of 10:30 am on November 10 from the snow that fell over the weekend:
