Operation K-9 Event Will Return This Summer
After a year off due to the pandemic, the Operation K-9 will return this summer.
Mark your calendar now for August 12th from 4 PM - 7:30 PM at UWS Field on the University of Wisconsin- Superior campus, located at Belkanp Street and Mortorelli Drive.
This year will mark the 7th annual event presented by the Northland K9 Foundation, which provides lots of family fun including meet and greet with the dogs, police K9 demonstrations, plenty of law enforcement vehicles on display for the kids to explore, and other family fun events.
There will also be food, refreshments, and K9 souvenirs for sale, I know we have some cute K9 stuffies in my house. You can also do some bidding in the silent auction which will benefit the Northland K9 Foundation, they support the K9 units in the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Duluth Police Department, Hermantown Police Department, Superior Police Department, and the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
The Northland K9 Foundation was founded in 2013 to help fund law enforcement K9 programs to purchase dogs, ballistics vests, and other supplies needed to keep the dogs safe and trained.
They say, "The dogs live with their officer handlers at home as pets when off duty and become part of the family. Yet, when given the command, these K-9s can chase down criminals and hold them until an arrest is made."
