In Pauly Perrette's own words, "I almost died tonight." US Weekly reports that NCIS star (her character's name is Abby Scuito) was attacked by a homeless man on Thursday [November 12 ] near her home in Hollywood. Perrette composed a letter describing the ordeal and snapped a pic of it, which she then posted on Twitter.

She begins the letter with, "tonight was an awful night." Perrette says she was "jumped by a VERY psychotic homeless man" named William as she was walking across the street to her newly-purchased guest house.

The altercation quickly turned violent, almost like a scene straight out of NCIS. As Perrette writes, "He grabbed me so forcefully, pinned my arm, punched me in the nose [and] forehead repeatedly telling me he was going to kill me."

Perrette notes how she observed "an empty garage" behind her, saying if "he got me in there I was dead." Thankfully, the gruesome turn of events didn't happen because Perrette was able to dissuade her attacker by "pray[ing her] heart out" and actually complimenting him, telling him "William is a beautiful name. I have a little nephew named William."

After William told Perrette to "get the f--k out of here," the actress was in shock when a man and his dog walked right by her, and though the dog licked her face its owner "did nothing." No thanks to the not-so-good Samaritan, Perrette called the police and drew a sketch of her attacker, which the police were able to use in their search, following him down Hollywood Boulevard and ultimately apprehending him.

While William was arrested and charged with "felony assault," Perrette declares that further changes need to be made. "We need full mental health care," she begins. "We need housing and help for the homeless. We need to support our cops. We need to not walk alone."
