National Police Week is running through Saturday.  Friday, May 15, is National Peace Officers Memorial Day and fallen officers will be honored in Duluth's Canal Park.

At 9:30 p.m. Friday, the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge will be illuminated blue to honor law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.

Also at that time, squad cars with lights flashing will be leaving from the DECC parking lot, traveling east on Railroad Street, then turning right on South Lake Avenue, where they will proceed across the Aerial Lift Bridge, down to the end of Park Point and back.

While the sight of an expected 50-75 squads traveling together would be quite an emotional tribute to witness in person, it is advised the public stay home and watch the procession online to prevent a large crowd forming in the Canal Park area, per the Governor’s Executive Order.

Obviously, if you live on Park Point you'll have a terrific view of the event, but please do not congregate together.

To ensure safety and social distancing, everyone in the Northland is invited to watch the procession program online via the Duluth Police Department’s Facebook page where they will remember each law enforcement officer who gave the ultimate sacrifice from Minnesota, Superior, Wisconsin and Douglas County, Wisconsin.

You can follow the link below to access the page and you do not need a Facebook account to watch.

The procession is expected to end at 10:30 p.m.
