BringMeTheNews reports Ronald Davis was fatally shot on September 15 after an altercation with St. Paul Police Officer Steven Mattson, which came shortly after Davis had rear-ended Officer Mattson's car. The video of body cam footage from Officer Mattson shows him getting out of is car to investigate what happened when he is immediately confronted by Davis who is holding a knife.

St. Paul Police Chief Todd Axell criticized the allegations of murder brought on by people who are protesting Davis death. Axell released a statement " For more than 30 years I have built my career on a foundation of trust, truth and transparency, that's not to say that I or anybody else in this department is perfect by any stretch of the imagination. When we have made mistakes, St. Paul PD has a proven track record of admitting those mistakes, however this is not one of those times."

Chief Axtell did say his hear goes out to the Davis family and the only solace he can take away from this tragedy is that Officer Mattson was not seriously injured or killed, but that his life will never be the same. According to WCCO friends say Davis was celebrating the completion of a six-week maintenance and facilities training course that included certifications just two days before he was killed, and that he was respectful and had a big heart.
