For many years Target has teamed up with other businesses creating what they call a "Store in Store" combination like Starbucks, CVS and Disney and now they can add Ulta to the list as well. Starting in 2021 they will roll out the Ulta stores in 100 Targets with many more stores to follow.

Brian Cornell, Target’s chairman and CEO said in a statement:

We couldn’t be happier about bringing these two trusted brands together to redefine retail beauty experiences. This matchup brings Ulta Beauty’s coveted prestige beauty assortment, category expertise and guest loyalty together with Target’s high-growth beauty business and the ease and convenience of our industry-leading fulfillment services.

The new Ulta Beauty Store will be part of the beauty section of the store providing a stylish shop with a wide range of products all available in one place. Customers will be able to buy limited edition products along with their regular skin and hair products. The current plan is hoping to add personalized services called a GLAMLab which will provide a virtual way for customers to test out products before they buy them. Team members at the store will be trained from Ulta to help with product questions.

I know for myself and all my friends it is a running joke to go to Target with a list and not only do I get the things on my list, but many other things I had no plans of buying. As much as I try to restrain myself it has been a losing battle. With the pandemic raging on all over the country many people will appreciate having to make less stops and also the drive up service for no contact shopping. This may become a trend for many stores to consolidate and would seem to be a win win for both businesses.
