The World’s Most Famous Squirrel Will Be in Minnesota This Weekend

This weekend, Minnesota will host the world's most famous squirrel at one of the world's largest malls.

The Mall of America is kicking off its summer promotion called the Summer Games at MOA with an appearance by one talented squirrel in the rotunda starting on Friday and going through the weekend.

Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel will be in Minnesota with three show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend, you can catch Twiggy cruising around the large pool being pulled by an RC boat at noon, 2 PM and 4 PM each day.

Twiggy has made several appearances in Duluth over the years at the home or sport show at the DECC, the last time was back in February 2023 for the Duluth Sport Show.

Millions of people have seen Twiggy, or at least the current version of Twiggy. The original Twiggy was a rescued squirrel from a hurricane in 1978 by Chuck and Lou Ann Best from Sanford, Florida, they taught that squirrel how to ski, and the rest is history.

Twiggy has entertained millions of people throughout the years and has been featured in movies, TV shows, books, and magazines. Twiggy not only entertains, but educates the audience about water safety and the importance of life jackets.

Lou Ann Best retired from touring with Twiggy after doing it for 39 years and now her son, Chuck Best Jr. takes the latest Twiggy from town to town as the spokes animal for The National Safe Boating Council's "Wear It" Campaign.
