The "Gales of November" sure to mean business across Lake Superior this fall!

Just last Monday, we saw wind gusts across Northeastern Minnesota above 60 mph along the North Shore in places like Duluth and Grand Marais. Today has been another blustery day, with wind advisories along the North Shore and gale warnings across Western Lake Superior.

We aren't done with the windy conditions yet across the Northland, as the National Weather Service in Duluth is anticipating strong wind gusts through this evening.

Their latest forecast (seen below) suggests we could see pretty aggressive wind all the way through dinnertime tonight before things calm down at least some going into the nighttime hours. It will still remain breezy through the night, just not as aggressive as it has been today.

That said, windows have been rattling, tree branches have been falling, and garbage cans have been getting tipped over through the day from strong wind gusts we've seen this morning and into the afternoon.

I decided to look into the top wind gusts we've seen as of 1 pm Thursday afternoon to get an idea of just how windy it has been. While some of the numbers haven't been quite as impressive as last Monday's numbers, they've still been pretty strong!

Someone with the Duluth NWS office told me that a ship offshore from Silver Bay reported a wind gust of 75 mph Thursday morning!
