VIDEO: Early Morning Apartment Fire In Superior Displaces Dozens Of Residents
Crews from the Superior Fire Department responded to an early morning structure fire around 1:00 am on Tuesday, May 23.
Fire crews responded to the fire at the Nottingham Apartments at 1719 North 19th Street in Superior, assisted by members of the Superior Police Department in helping to clear the scene and help in evacuation efforts.
Upon arriving, fire was seen coming out of the window of an apartment on the third floor of the building.
According to a Facebook post from the Superior Police Department, the building was able to be evacuated in about 15 minutes from the time responders got to the scene of the fire and the fire was able to be brought under control.
Our news partners at WDIO report that four adults and one child were rescued by firefighters from a third-floor window due to smoke and heat blocking their exit from the building. Two people were transported via ambulance to the hospital. No fatalities were reported.
In video provided by a listener, you can see the response at the scene on Tuesday morning. Crews remained on the scene from their arrival at around 1:00 am until about 4:30 am.
During the evacuation efforts, firefighters rescued a number of pets that call the apartment home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The apartment building suffered a substantial amount of smoke, heat, and water damage, leaving residents of the 35-unit complex unable to return to their homes. In an effort to help those affected, the American Red Cross was notified of the fire and is working to provide help for those impacted.
