Vikings Announce New ‘Icy’ And ‘Minnesota’ Elements For Monday Night Football Game

The Minnesota Vikings are in a spot many fans and football experts didn't expect them to be in right now.

I know, it's weird to think of the Packers helping the Vikings, but it happened last night. Minnesota was already on track to earn a playoff spot with their 11-2 record, but when the Packers beat the Seahawks last night, that helped the Vikings clinch a playoff spot.

This, despite the thought going into the season that it would be a rebuilding year with low expectations. Minnesota's defense has been strong under Brian Flores and Sam Darnold has seemingly resurrected his career after being largely considered to be a draft bust.

Making things even more interesting, the Lions lost to the Bills yesterday, which means the Vikings have a chance to also win the NFC North! Now, the Vikings will likely need to win the rest of their games, including against the Lions at the end of the season, but it is a possibility.

That means each of the four remaining games for Minnesota are very important.

It all starts with tonight's game against the Bears on Monday Night Football. The game will be on their home turf at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, and this game is going to have some fun elements added in. Here's a look at those unique elements.

Minnesota to debut "Winter Warrior" uniforms

These "icy" uniforms look amazing! The team's new "Winter Warrior" uniforms were announced this summer, with plans to unveil them at this Monday Night Football game against the Bears.

The team is also encouraging fans attending the game to wear white to create a "Winter Whiteout" in the stands. Adding to that, fans attending the game will get white rally towels to wave around.

A Minnesota sports legend to sound the Gjallarhorn

The Vikings announced Minnesota sports legend (and recent Hall of Fame inductee) Joe Mauer will be hyping up the crowd for this big game!

Mauer will lead the Skol Chant and sound the Gjallarhorn ahead of the game. SKOL! That's not all, though.

An "Icy" musical number for halftime

If the Winter Warrior uniforms, whiteout crowd attire request, and Joe Mauer weren't enough, the one and only Vanilla Ice will be joining in the festivities tonight, too!

As the Vikings put it in their social media post, "What's a Winter Whiteout without a little Ice Ice Baby?"

Now, if you're watching the game at home, you probably won't get to see much of the performance and it's hard to know if they'll show the Gjallarhorn festivities, but here's hoping ESPN/ABC gives fans at home at least a taste.
