You might roll your eyes at this but it's happening no matter what! Pumpkin spice season is basically here.

Yes, we are still in the swing of summer but fall isn't too far off. Fall means cooler weather, all things scary and of course, pumpkin spice.

You probably already know this but pumpkin spice is a flavor that takes over pretty much everything once fall gets close. It is the same thing every single year but has really picked up steam over the past few years.

It all started with the famous pumpkin spice latte. It originated at Starbucks and since, others have followed suit. Now you can find pumpkin spice lattes and drinks everywhere. You can even buy pumpkin spice flavored food! It really is a trend.

The rollout of pumpkin spice always begins when fall gets a bit closer. It starts with Starbucks rolling out their pumpkin spice latte and before you know it, pumpkin spice is everywhere. If you love the taste of pumpkin, this is great news.

In 2019, prior to the pandemic, the famous latte dropped on a Tuesday at the end of August. It hit shelves on August 27th of that year. The year before, it was dropped on the 28th.

Last year, in the midst of the pandemic, we actually got to enjoy the treat early. I guess Starbucks just knew what we needed during the tough year! The pumpkin spice latte dropped on Tuesday, August 25th. It wasn't super early but it was a few days early and we were excited.

So when is the pumpkin spice latte returning to the Twin Ports this year? According to rumors, things are right on track with an August release. Based on the past few years, we can assume it will probably drop on a Tuesday.

Taking this obvious clue, the internet has dialed in on a possible release date: Tuesday, August 24th. A few very good internet sleuths did some research and say that date is a pretty safe bet for the drink's debut this year, should they continue their pattern of the third Tuesday of the month.

Shortly after sharing this story, Starbucks reached out and offered the following statement regarding pumpkin spice this year:

We’re not ready to embrace fall just yet! We’ll be sure to let you know when we have more details to share.

2021 has been another strange and trying year which means things might not go as planned! In fact, Starbucks has been facing several shortages due to the pandemic so that could factor into the release date. As of now, the company hasn't said a thing.

Other coffee chains like Caribou Coffee and Dunkin' also have their own take on the pumpkin craze, which they roll out around the same time as Starbucks. This is great news considering a new Caribou Coffee location just opened in Superior!

Of course, we will keep you updated when we get confirmation on when all things pumpkin will hit stores in the Twin Ports. In the meantime, we can start getting ready for Halloween! Spirit Halloween is going to be opening a location in the Miller Hill Mall soon and I think we need to have a store just like it in the area year round. What do you think?
