If you have never gone through the William A. Irvin Haunted Ship I am putting out a dare to each and every one of you to give it a try this year. People literally come from all over the country to experience this unique attraction on top of the fact that it is really haunted, the ship itself has a creepy factor to it.

For the last 30 years, the haunted ship has been a staple for frights and fun with exception of the past few years from when the ship was moved out of canal park to be repaired and then COVID. But it did return last year when more than 29,000 people walked through or ran depending on how scared they were.

DECC Communications Director, Lucie Amundsen said that organizers have been working for months to get ready for this season and there will be new props sure to make you stop dead in your tracks. She said to FOX21:

One of the things that you can look forward is a machine called the Ceiling Dweller. I can say, as someone who was frightened by it unexpectedly, it is a show stopper.

In all the years that I have broadcast at the Haunted Ship, I have seen quite a few things, people literally urinating on themselves, throwing up, having security have to come to get them and escort them out of the ship. Or people that literally turn around and run back out of the entrance. Not that I can blame them it is scary and the setup is always different each year with a different theme.

Don't forget to bring a non-perishable food item for $2 off your ticket. The items they collect each week have added up to thousands of pounds of food for our local food shelves. For a complete schedule of the tours, this year click here. They are always looking for volunteer actors and set builders, so if you are interested please e-mail irvin@decc.org.
