4 Wisconsin Beers Named Among Best In The World At 2025 World Beer Cup
The annual World Beer Cup competition was held on May 1, seeking to name the best beers in the world in a series of different styles. In a competition that included over 8,000 beers from around the world, four Wisconsin beers collected top honors this year!
How cool is that?
I mean, it probably isn't a huge surprise that Wisconsin would win some awards for great beer. It's still pretty awesome, though!
The 2025 World Beer Cup consisted of 8,375 beverages from 1,761 breweries and cideries across 49 countries.
The contest is a 7-day event with 14 sessions, where 265 judges from 37 countries evaluate each entry to eventually whittle it down to gold, silver, and bronze medalists in each of the contest's categories.

When it was all said and done, four Wisconsin breweries earned medals. The Badger State saw two gold medals, a silver, and a bronze. Here's a look at the winners.
Gold Medal Winner: Earth Rider Brewery in Superior, Wisconsin
One of Wisconsin's two gold medal winners is a beer from Superior's Earth Rider Brewery. Their award-winning brew is their North Tower Stout, which won top honors in the Oatmeal Stout category.
The team at Earth Rider shared a social media post celebrating the news while holding a glass of the gold medal-winning beer.
The award-winning North Tower Stout is one of Earth Rider's flagship beers. It has won a few different awards over the years, including a gold medal in the 2022 World Beer Cup.
They describe the beer as having "malty accents of chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit, all balanced with a restrained hop presence in this stouthearted ale".
The beer has an ABV of 6.0% and an IBU of 28.
Gold Medal Winner: New Glarus Brewing Co. in New Glarus, WI
The other gold medal winner from Wisconsin is New Glarus Brewing's Kriek, which won in the Belgian Fruit Beer category.

Used in the making of this beverage are Door County cherries, three-year-old hops, and Wisconsin wheat. It has an ABV of 7.6% and an IBU of 24.
Silver Medal Winner: New Glarus Brewing Co. in New Glarus, WI
New Glarus really cleaned up in the Belgian Fruit Beer category, winning two of the three medals! Besides the gold medal they also won, their Champ Du Blanc netted a silver medal in the same category.
This beer is a blend of aged sour blonde ale and Chardonnay grapes. It has an ABV of 10% and an IBU of 6.
Bronze Medal Winner: Hinterland Brewery in Green Bay, WI
The final Wisconsin winner is the Hinterland Altbier from Hinterland Brewery, which won in the German-Style Altbier category.
The brewery, unfortunately, doesn't have any information about a beer by that name, but they do have a different altbier on their menu that also sounds delicious.
