Alanis Morissette Performs Touching Cover of Green Day’s “Basketcase” On Jimmy Kimmel [VIDEO]

Fourteen year old Laura is geeking out right now.  Last night on Jimmy Kimmel one of my favorite songs from my high school years was covered by one of my favorite artists of my teenage years.

After Green Day was forced to cancel their appearance (Billie Joe is in rehab) on Jimmy Kimmel, Alanis Morissette stepped in to cover "Basketcase."   In her version, she slowed it down, and almost giving it a new meaning. You can almost see tears in her eyes as she sings, and as she sings the lyric, "So I better hold on" you can tell she's not just covering the song, but singing it to Billie Joe.  At least that was my interpretation.
