Chris Brown Says He Has a First Amendment Right to Make His House as Ugly as He Wants

Chris Brown is fighting back against the city of Los Angeles, which is trying to make Breezy remove the bizarre Sid and Marty Krofft creatures he spray painted onto his property that subsequently scared the hell out of all the neighborhood children (and all the grownups afraid of plummeting property values).

The singer was cited for having an “unpermitted sign,” and TMZ reports he’s now filed an appeal claiming his First Amendment rights have been violated and saying the fanged beasts “enhance the architectural and aesthetic features of the residential property.”

He continued by harping on his right to freedom of speech, saying, ”The murals are a reflection of [my] aesthetic taste and a reflection of free speech and expression protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.”

His appeal currently sits with the city’s Dept. of Building and Safety, but if he gets shot down he could take it to Superior Court.

It’s just like John Adams said: “Liberty cannot be preserved if we are denied the basic right to make children cry.”
