In a campaign to help Northlanders stay safe from house fires the Red Cross added a door to door campaign with help of some students from St. Scholastica.

According to WDIO about 40 students along with representatives from The Red Cross went door to door in the Pleasant View Mobile Home Park and Morgan Park neighborhood to ask residents if they had working smoke detectors in every bedroom and on every level of the home. The students were given training before they went door to door .

If homeowners need smoke detectors or old ones replaced The Red Cross will be following up to help them.
