Disney Announces ‘Avengers 2′ is in the Works but After ‘Iron Man 3′, ‘Thor 2′ and ‘Captain America 2′

I'm sure this comes as a shock to no one but the sequel to the hit movie 'The Avengers' is already in the works, that is according to Disney CEO Bob Iger, but you'll have to wait a minute to see the follow-up.

Making the announcement on a phone call with investors, Iger said the sequel will come after the already announced 'Iron Man 3' and 'Thor 2' in 2013 and a 'Captain America' sequel in 2014, so 'Avengers 2' might not land in theaters til maybe 2015 or dare I say 2016?

It was also announced that a few Disney theme parks will get an 'Avengers' themed ride in the near future.

According to THR, Iger boasted that 'Avengers' "shattered domestic box-office records with a $207.1 million opening weekend for a global performance of more than $702 million to date."
