Extremely cold temperatures and wind chill values leading to the wind chill warning in effect through Tuesday have prompted officials at Spirit Mountain to close the hill early on Monday January 21 and Tuesday January 22, 2013.

Spirit Mountain officially opened its latest attraction today, the "Timber Flyer" zip line. The ride has been thrilling riders since last week, but today was the big official "Grand Opening" complete with a Mayor, a Senator and a red ribbon for them to cut.

It was a gloomy morning with some spotty showers for those in attendance, like Duluth Mayor Don Ness, State Senator Roger Reinert and the Duluth Chamber of Commerce, but the weather didn't dampen the excitement of everyone ready to experience Duluth's newest thrill ride!
