UMD to Host Viewing Party for Solar Eclipse

Monday August 21st UMD will be hosting a viewing party at Grandmas Sports Garden starting around 11am.

This will be a great place to gather with friends and family for this rare occurrence. UMD will have a large Geo-Dome from the University Planetarium in addition to telescopes outside. Marc Sieger the Associate Dean of the UMD Swenson College said  many people have been waiting for this for years.

Just a reminder that you will need special glasses, even if you are looking through binoculars or a telescope, don't expect very dark sunglasses to work they will not protect your eyes .  UMD will have these special glasses at the event.
