A busy ramp from I-35 will close for the next few months, allowing workers to perform utility repairs.  Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation are alerting drivers that the 5th Avenue ramp from southbound I-35 will close to traffic starting Monday, January 20 - and remain closed until April 1.

While the ramp is closed off, utility work will be performed on the City of Duluth's Steam Plant. As with all projects, the timeline is open to changes - depending on the factors that could turn up during the work or the weather.

As far as potential detours go, the ramp to Lake Avenue will remain open during this project and will be the route that is utilized for the posted/signed detour; that detour route will follow Lake Avenue to Superior Street to First Avenue West.
