This Wisconsin Campground Is Among Best Places To Camp In The Country
There are a lot of phenomenal places to camp in the Badger State. With dozens of state parks and forests and numerous other camping options, there's a lot to choose from.
Whether it's near one of the two Great Lakes bordering Wisconsin or one of the inland treasures the state has to offer, there are a ton of great places to explore!
What is the best place to camp in Wisconsin? That's a really hard question to ask. What do you value most? Is it the scenery and surroundings? How close (or far away) is it from home? What the camping location offers? Each person has a different definition of the perfect camping location.
Despite that, the camping experts with the camping website and app The Dyrt used their data to put together a list of the best camping destinations around the country, all broken down by region. One Wisconsin camping destination made the list as one of the best.
What is the best place to camp in Wisconsin?
If you ask The Dyrt, they say the Copper Falls State Park Campground south of Ashland by the town of Mellen in Northern Wisconsin is the place to go.
Coming in at #3 on their 10 best camping destinations in the Midwest, the campground at Copper Falls State Park is one of the best in the country, according to The Dyrt.

What makes it so great? If you've never been to Copper Falls State Park before, the park itself is wonderful. A blend of pine and hardwood trees with well-maintained hiking trails and waterfalls to explore makes it enjoyable to visit any time of year.
When it comes to camping, the park has two campground spaces, with their 32-site North Campground and 23-site South Campground offering a few options.

The North Campground has 28 sites with electrical hookups and 4 without power. The South Campground is a little more rustic, with none of the sites offering electrical hookups. If you want to go even more rustic, there are a handful of walk-in and backpack sites.
All sites are reservable and have picnic tables, fire rings, and tent pads as well as shower facilities nearby.
