Brand New Minnesota Tulip Festival To Hold Inaugural Season In May
One of the most beautiful signs of springtime each year in Minnesota is tulips blooming in garden spaces across the state.
For the last few years now, I've made a springtime trip to visit a couple of popular tulip hotspots with my camera to enjoy and capture the beauty of those flowers. There's now another one it looks like I need to add to my list!
The two destinations I've been visiting the last couple of years are the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska for their roughly 40,000 tulips, plus other flowers in bloom. I have also made a habit of visiting the "Tulip House" in Minneapolis, which features hundreds of tulips along the street-facing edges on the home's corner lot.
A friend just told me about this new event that takes the tulip count way up, with more than 160,000 tulips being planted for this new Minnesota springtime happening that will last for a few weeks this May.
Introducing Minnesota's Newest Tulip Event
Much like how some farms have gotten into doing fall harvest events with sunflowers, corn mazes, and other fun, Brand Farms in Farmington, Minnesota, is creating a springtime version with a lot of tulips and spring fun.
Brand Farms has been sharing details on social media about what they are calling "The first tulip festival in Minnesota", which I can't say I've personally verified, but I don't know of any others aside from just the tulip displays I mentioned earlier in the Twin Cities.
The farm, located just south of the Twin Cities at 18605 Biscayne Ave W. in Farmington, MN, says they planted over 160,000 tulips, and they're coming in to bloom! They've waited to see when the tulips would be in bloom to announce the date for their first tulip festival, which they've now shared an official date for!
Brand Farms' first-ever tulip festival will begin on Saturday, May 2, starting at 10 am. The festival will continue for a few weeks, while tulips are in bloom, until May 24, 2026 (or as the tulips and weather allow).
The farm will be open daily (unless it is raining) from 10 am until 6 pm to explore 34 different kinds of tulips across 3 acres and enjoy other farm fun.
Some of the other "farm fun" activities include hay rides, a corn pit, a farm market, photo props, field activities, live music on the weekends, on-site food and beverages, and opportunities to pick your own tulips (from a designated area) or buy bouquets.
How much does it cost?
This is a ticketed event, and they recommend getting your tickets via their website ahead of time, but they can be purchased at the farm. Tickets are $15.51 for Friday-Sunday admission, and $13.44 for Monday-Thursday. The ticket includes all activities.
Compared to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum's $20 advanced tickets ($25 at the gate), it is less expensive to check out this farm, plus there are activities for the kids. The Arboretum does offer a lot of other plant life to check out, and might be geared more toward adults looking to enjoy flowers away from the hustle and bustle of an event with kids.

If you're a photographer, photography passes are required for your photo shoot at the Brand Farms Tulip Festival. They cost $42.42 for the photographer, and there is an $11.37 entry fee for each client who will be in your photo shoot. Hours for these are the same hours as the rest of the farm events, from 10 am until 6 pm.
If you want to learn more about the Brand Farms Tulip Festival, you can get details and ticket information on their website.
