Known for its larger-than-life stores, pristine restrooms, signature Beaver Nuggets, and loveable mascot, Buc-ee's has grown beyond its Lone Star roots to become a true cultural phenomenon.

Wisconsin's First Buc-ee's Location Confirmed

Now, Wisconsin is getting its very first taste of the Buc-ee’s experience. This will be the first location in the Upper Midwest, with the closest existing Buc-ee’s currently in Springfield, MO.

WISN-TV is reporting that Buc-ee’s has purchased land and is planning to build a massive 73,370-square-foot travel center with 120 gas pumps and EV charging stations.

Location Details: Oak Creek, WI

The new Buc-ee’s will be located in Oak Creek, WI, at I-94 and Elm Road, conveniently situated between Milwaukee and Chicago. The store is anticipated to open in early 2027.

Oak Creek’s City Administrator, Andrew Vickers, shared details about the planning process. He said, “Over the next several months, we’ll go through municipal approvals beginning Tuesday, January 28th, with our planning commission. The second step is site plans, following a public hearing of Common Council.”

Buc-ee’s Prior Wisconsin Plans

This isn’t Buc-ee’s first attempt to enter Wisconsin. The company previously announced plans for a location in DeForest, WI, between Madison and Wisconsin Dells. However, that project was canceled due to funding and construction problems.

Buc-ee’s Statement on Oak Creek Expansion

Buc-ee’s confirmed their first Wisconsin location in a statement: “Buc-ee’s is excited to have the opportunity of adding Oak Creek to our expansion into Wisconsin. The folks of Oak Creek have been a pleasure to work with, and we look forward to partnering with them for many years to come.”

A Growing Brand with Eyes on the Midwest

Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s currently operates 50 stores across the United States, most of them in Texas. As the brand grows, many Minnesotans are hoping Buc-ee’s expansion will include the state in the near future.
