The upcoming Christmas holiday will bring changes to the garbage collection schedule for property owners in the City of Superior. The holiday will also bring changes to the recycling pickup schedule - albeit not in lock-step with the garbage schedule changes. Both sets of holiday-related changes will affect residents the week of December 21 through December 25.

In observance of the Christmas holiday, the Superior Public Works Department will be closed on Thursday and Friday, December 24 and December 25. This closure will also affect the Municipal Landfill on Moccasin Mike Road.

Because of the holiday, there will be no garbage collection on those two days. To accommodate, the schedule will see some of the remaining days of the week shifted around. Here's a breakdown by collection days of the week - direct from the city's website:

Due to the holiday, pickup will be accelerated the week of December 20th. Residents are requested to have their garbage out by 7:00 a.m. two days early to allow for early pick-up.

The "two-day early" resulting schedule will allow for no collections to happen on Thursday or Friday.

As far as recycling goes, there will be no changes to homeowners who normally see their recyclables picked up on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.  Friday collections will be delayed by one day - and will be collected on Saturday. All recycling questions should be directed to Hartels/DBJ by calling 218-729-5446.
