Back in May, the Duluth City Council in an 8-0 vote established the Duluth African Heritage Commission, and the deadline to apply for a spot has just been extended.

According to the City of Duluth website, the commission was created to "ensure that the views of the African Heritage community are incorporated in the decision making, future planning, and stewardship of the city of Duluth."

7 members will be selected to serve on this commission for a 3-year term, with a max of 2 terms served.

The commission will help guide public policy and planning and be involved in the development of services "so that the African Heritage community is adequately represented in these processes."

If this is something you might be interested in doing, or if you know someone who would be great in this role, go here to apply. All applications must now be in by Monday, August 24th.
