Minnesota-based Dairy Queen made an abrupt move that is having many fans of the brand wondering what happened.

Dairy Queen has over 4,400 locations in the United States, serving up millions of ice cream treats per day, but sadly, some stores that have been open for more than 50 years are suddenly closed.

Headquartered in Bloomington, and operated by franchise owners across America, the brand best known for their Blizzard treats announced the immediate closure of 25 stores in Texas.

Auction Details for Closed Texas Stores

The stores, all operated by the same franchise owner, were closed and are now being auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Current Bidding Status

The auction is underway now and bidding will close February 20th, the winning bidder is bidding on the entire contents of the stores, there are no individual items in this auction, they must take everything, including the iconic DQ signs, grills, and yes, even the ice cream makers.

Currently, the highest bid is for $6,200 for the contents of a store in Hillsboro, TX, and the lowest bid is for $1,050 for a store in Sour Lake, TX.

Dairy Queen's Financial Stability

Owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, Dairy Queen is in no trouble of mass closures, this seems to be an isolated incident. Texas is still home to nearly 500 locations, the most for any state.
