It should come as no surprise that this former Minnesota Vikings superstar has once again found himself in trouble with the law. Over the weekend, Adrian Peterson was arrested in Texas, marking his second arrest for this offense in 2025.

According to TMZ, Peterson, who played for the Vikings from 2007 to 2016 and still holds several NFL rushing records, was taken into custody in Sugar Land, Texas, around 10 a.m. on Sunday morning. The 40-year-old running back was charged with DWI and unlawful carrying of a weapon. As of Monday morning, Peterson remained in jail with no bail set.

Second Arrest This Year

This isn’t Peterson’s first run-in with authorities this year. Back in April, he was arrested in Minnesota during a visit for the Vikings’ NFL Draft Night party. At that time, Peterson was reportedly pulled over for driving 83 in a 55 mph zone and blew a blood alcohol level of .14%, nearly twice the legal limit. He was scheduled to appear in court in May, but no public updates have been released since that case.

Previous Altercation in Houston

Peterson also made headlines earlier this year after an altercation at JokerStars, a poker room in Houston, following a dispute over a hand. No charges were filed in that incident, but it added to the list of off-field troubles for the former NFL MVP. Peterson’s latest arrest continues a pattern that has followed him long after his football career ended.
