At around noon on Monday (April 13), the Twin Ports welcomed the first ocean-going ship into the harbor for the 2015 shipping season. The Kom, a 465-foot bulk carrier from Malta, started its journey in LaCoruna, Spain, and will load over 12,000 metric tons of durum wheat before heading back across the Atlantic Ocean. The Kom will drop the wheat off in Italy, where it will be milled into flour for pasta-making.
