AND NOW...FOR SOME GOOD NEWS

My son came to work with me today and said, "Hacuna Matata." I believe it means "No Worries." I say it to the people I love all the time...I just don't say it in such colorful fun words.

I must have been complaining or worrying about things; and as we were getting ready to enter the building he said those words to me, and it immediately cheered me up.

So as I was looking for something positive in the world today, I found many articles on how great hiking is for your mind. If you can't be around a bunch of people, how about hanging out in nature! Here are some great reasons to get outside when hanging out with other people isn't the best option.

DOCTORS PRESCRIPTION? TAKE A HIKE

Many Doctors are recommending people get outside and take a hike. According to WEBMD, "Ecotherapy" helps reduce stress, reduce anxiety, and curb depression.

HIKING IS EASIER ON YOUR BODY THAT OTHER FITNESS OPTIONS

Did you know that you can burn between 400-700 calories just by taking a hike? Also, hiking is easier on your joints that running or other forms  of getting fit; and it's an activity that can be fun for the whole family.

BRAIN HEALTHY MOVEMENT

Exercise helps keep our brains healthy, and might help with memory and cognitive ability, according to research from the University of British Columbia. Aerobic exercise, which includes hiking can also help release endorphins, our feel good hormones, and increase our self esteem. There's something about being connected to nature that we innately need.
