Hermantown Police Respond To Truck, School Bus Collision Accident
An investigation is now underway after an accident in Hermantown that involved a school bus on Tuesday morning.
The Hermantown Police Department reports they responded to an accident around 8:15 this morning (October 21) at the intersection of Stebner Road and Maple Grove Road in Hermantown.
The accident involved a school bus and a pickup truck at the intersection of these two busy roadways, which is controlled by stoplights.
The Hermantown Police Department says it appears the pickup truck was heading northbound on Stebner Road, rear-ending the school bus (also heading northbound on Stebner) involved in the accident.

Initial reports say that the bus and pickup truck behind it were both approaching a red light on Stebner Road at the Maple Grove Road intersection.
The Hermantown Police Department says that the truck's driver was a 41-year-old male from Duluth who was transported to the hospital by ambulance for a medical-related evaluation, though no injuries were reported by the police department for the driver.
Thankfully, there were also no injuries reported for those on the bus. The school bus only had two occupants at the time of the accident: the driver and one juvenile student. The HPD says neither the driver nor the student was injured during the accident.
In a press release about the incident, the Hermantown Police Department says they are investigating the cause of the accident.
The Hermantown School District says it will inspect the bus for damage before returning it to service.
