Another round of May snow has come and gone. At this point, all we can do is laugh!

In all seriousness, we did see accumulating snow across the Northland on Sunday, May 19th. Some areas saw up to a foot, as shown below in a graphic from The National Weather Service of Duluth:

Here are a few notable snowfall totals to mention, courtesy of The National Weather Service of Duluth:

  • 7.3 inches in Poplar, Wisconsin
  • 5.5 inches in Hawthorne, Wisconsin
  • 5 inches in Oulu, Wisconsin
  • 5 inches in Blueberry, Wisconsin
  • 3.5 inches in Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin
  • 1.5 inches in Brule, Wisconsin
  • 1.3 inches in Moquah, Wisconsin

WDIO shared snowfall totals from the storm on their Facebook page Sunday, after the snow stopped falling. Take a look at their graphic below to see how much snow we saw across other areas:

WOW! I can't believe we saw over two inches in Duluth. The good news is that it should all melt pretty quickly and we can all pretend it never happened.

WDIO Chief Meteorologist Justin Liles gave me a good laugh with his reponse to the late May snow. It will probably make you laugh really hard too!

Say hello (again) to the snowiest May in Duluth history. Sigh.
