While it is still August (*checks calendar to be sure*), Minnesota is getting its first taste of fall-like temperatures as a preview of the season above.

As I mentioned in an article last week, a chance at the first frost of the season was possible in parts of Minnesota - particularly in Northern Minnesota.

While places in Southern Minnesota and along the North Shore near Lake Superior generally saw overnight lows in the 40s, it did indeed get chilly enough for thermometers in many places in the northern half of the state to sink into the 30s Sunday night into Monday morning.

Here's a look at some of the coldest temperatures reported across Minnesota overnight into the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2025.

While there weren't any official National Weather Service measurements that reached 32 degrees, several places got very close! It is certainly possible a few spots without an official NWS measurement may have gotten to 32 degrees (or maybe even a touch colder) in parts of Northern Minnesota.

It is supposed to warm up a little bit this week, though there is no major heat wave on the way for the Labor Day Weekend. Temperatures are expected to get into the 70s with overnight lows a little more seasonable, in the 50s for most of the state for the holiday weekend.
