Tthis week in 1996 the 'Mission Impossible' reboot opened up at number one, the 23rd Daytime Emmy's took place, and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony had the number one song.

One of the biggest blockbusters of the summer, 'Mission Impossible' starring Tom Cruise opened up at number one at the box office. The film was based off the television series off the same name and follows Ethan Hunt and his mission to uncover the mole who has framed him for the murders of his entire IMF team. Several member of the original series did not like the reboot at all, but despite their negative reviews the film still was a huge success grossing over $450 million.

The 23rd Daytime Emmy Awards took place on this day in 1996.

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony released their Grammy award winning song 'Tha Crossroads'. The song was dedicated to the group's mentor late rapper Easy-E and is the group's best selling single to date even reaching the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
