It's so close, I can almost taste it! Just like always, Gordy's Hi-Hat will be opening in the spring for the season. It's something we all wait for during the long winter months and the best way to tell that spring is near in the Northland.

In case you didn't know, the popular spot always closes for the winter. The restaurant always reopens in the spring and depending on the year, it either feels like spring or we are still in the dead of winter.

Either way, it makes us feel hopeful that spring is on the way, even if for a moment. That's why I was excited to see that Gordy's Hi-Hat announced their opening date for the 2023 season on Facebook Friday (March 3rd).

They shared the news with a fun and hilarious video of Gordy's grandson hyping up the spot, which is amazing marketing if you ask me. At the end of the video, another steps in and announces the opening date: Wednesday, March 22nd!

We can already taste the onion rings, burgers, fries, malts and every other delicious thing they offer! Their menu has American classics like those mentioned and then some, including shrimp, fish and chips, salads and cheese curds, just to name a few.

You know it is good because the spot has been featured on the Food Network not once but TWICE! They have been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives two different times to shine a spotlight on the small town staple.

By the way, it has been a long few months without Gordy's! Because the restaurant is seasonal, it always closes right before fall moves in, usually in late September. In 2022, they closed shop on September 18th.

You probably already know by now but Gordy's Hi-Hat is located in Cloquet. It is such a big deal that television star Joel McKinnon Miller even stopped by over the summer last year! I am already counting down the days until it opens for the season.
