Local Door and Window Company Being Investigated
You here of stories like this on the daily, a person hires a contractor and as soon as they show up at the work sight they shew the owners off the property right away. Work starts everything seems to be fine and all of a sudden all the workers are gone, and demolition is started and that's it. Nothing else is done or things are half finished. I could not even imagine that feeling.
I went through a big remodel at our house a few years ago, kitchen, bathroom, new windows, re-do flooring. It was a total drag, looked beautiful when it was done but the house was such a mess for weeks. On top of that you have kids and pets to shuffle around it, so, I could not even imagine never seeing the project finished and living in that type of mess for an extended period of time.
According to WDIO The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and Duluth Police Department are investigating a local business, Hicks Window and Door. Investigators say several people have reported paying thousands of dollars for windows and remodeling work which was never completed, and they did not get money back. The total amount paid without work being completed is estimated to be around $100,000.
Authorities believe there could be many more people out there who have not come forward yet. If you have work that was not finished from Hicks Window and Door you are asked to contact:
- Duluth residents: Investigator Andrew Graves, (218) 730-5729
- Outside of Duluth: Investigator Alyssa Schlichting, (218) 336-4352
The owner of Hicks Window and Door is said to be cooperating with authorities.
