Man In Custody After Mass Homicide Threat In Cloquet
An 18 year old man is in custody after Cloquet Police received multiple reports of a threat of violence on social media. The threat of a "mass homicide" didn't specify a particular location, only mentioning Cloquet.
According to a release from the Cloquet Police Department, an investigation led Cloquet and Fond du Lac Police and Carlton Country Sheriff's deputies to the suspect Tuesday morning in a home on the Fond du Lac Reservation, not far from Cloquet. After what is being described as "a brief confrontation with the residents in the house", the 18 year old male suspect was taken into custody. During the arrest, officers did not find any weapons with the suspect.
Although the threat did not specifically mention any location, area schools took precautionary measures on Tuesday morning, only allowing secure access to school facilities until the suspect was located.
In the release, the Cloquet Police say that there has been some misinformation shared on social media about the case and suspect, saying the following:
"Police are also aware of the misinformation that has been shared around social media regarding this incident and the suspect. The Cloquet Police Department worked as quickly and diligently as possible in this case while still ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data, in order not to jeopardize the investigation or identify any innocent parties."
