Gordy’s Hi-Hat In Cloquet Earns Title Of Minnesota’s ‘Most Legendary’ Local Restaurant
Minnesota is full of quite a few iconic local restaurants that become must-visit places when you're nearby.
From the birthplace of the Juicy Lucy (either the Twin Cities eateries Matt's Bar or the 5-8 Club, depending on who you ask) to places like Pickwick in Duluth, to a bunch of other places all around Minnesota, there's a long list of must-visit places around the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
So, how do you choose which one place is the most legendary, must-visit restaurant of all of the spots in Minnesota? I'd have a really hard time picking just one. The folks at "Only In Your State", however, have done just that. And it just so happens to be a seasonal favorite in Northern Minnesota.
This spring, the writing staff at the website named one legendary, "need-to-try" eatery in each state across the country. Of all of the spots in Minnesota, they landed on Gordy's Hi-Hat in Cloquet.

Considering the long legacy of this popular seasonal roadside diner, it's hard to argue they're wrong. I mean, if you've had their food, you know it's pretty darn good. There's a reason people get excited for when they open for the season every spring.
In their brief write-up about Gordy's Hi-Hat, the team at Only In Your State highlighted the family-owned tradition that started in 1960 with Gordon and Marilyn Lundquist.
Pointing to their hand-pattied burgers, homemade onion rings, and other classic diner favorites (have you tried the fish? It's pretty good!), there's plenty to keep you coming back throughout the summer.
The restaurant has a sizable following who excitedly await the announcement of when Gordy's will open each spring, with numerous fans every year on social media declaring their love of the food and, moreover, the memories and traditions born from visits to this Cloquet eatery.

If, for some reason, you've never eaten at Gordy's before, Only In Your State is right. It is 100% a must-try spot! I can personally confirm that. Here are some others in the region that also come highly recommended:
