In a recent ranking of the 50 most popular restaurant chains in America, a Minnesota-based company now ranks as the second best!

Minnesota is home to a number of popular regional and national restaurant brands, whether it's where their first location was or where their headquarters is.

Some examples of popular brands that didn't quite make the top-50 list but definitely have a special place in the hearts of Minnesotans include places like this:

Caribou Coffee

While this popular regional brand might enjoy a loyal following in Minnesota and elsewhere around the region, it has a relatively small footprint across the country when compared to brands like Starbucks and Dunkin.

Even though there are over 800 locations in 11 countries, most of the country apparently doesn't know what they're missing out on.

Buca di Beppo

Founded in Minneapolis in 1993, this casual Italian restaurant has since moved its headquarters south and expanded to over 40 locations across the country. There are four home state locations across the Twin Cities, but the brand has its biggest presence in California.

Famous Dave's

While this "famous" barbecue brand actually got its start in Hayward, Wisconsin in 1994, the headquarters for the now expansive Famous Dave's brand is in Minnetonka, Minnesota. The brand has expanded to 30 states and a handful of international locations, too.

While none of those brands made the nation's top 50 favorites, one food and sweet treat company with a Minnesota headquarters absolutely did, landing in the top 5 as one of the absolute favorites around the country!

They handily beat out big-name competitors in their field like Burger King and McDonald's, with one of the best positive opinion scores among Americans across all age groups.
