One of the biggest cultural phenomena in Japan is claw machine arcades. These venues, packed with kids and adults alike, offer a thrilling chance to win prizes. Now, that trend has made its way to Minnesota.

In Japan, these arcades are a staple in major cities. Alongside the challenging claw machines, they often feature Gacha machines that dispense capsule toys, as well as bubble tea and shaved ice.

A Taste of Japan’s Arcade Scene

DUCK! originally opened on New Year's Day, but overwhelming crowds led to an unexpected issue—they ran out of plushies and other prizes within just three weeks. Supply chain delays only made things worse, forcing them to temporarily close.

Restocked and Ready to Play

Now fully restocked, DUCK! has reopened with nearly 100 machines filled with anime and Sanrio plushies, along with other collectible prizes.

While the claw machines are the main attraction, the arcade also serves a menu of sweet treats, including bubble tea and bingsu, a Korean-style shaved ice dessert.

How Much Does It Cost to Play?

Like any good arcade, DUCK! runs on tokens. Pricing is as follows:

  • 18 tokens for $10
  • 108 tokens for $50
  • 248 tokens for $100

They also offer private party rentals and events starting at $599. I can't wait to visit, I'll be adding it to my list of places to visit on my next trip to the Twin Cities.
