It was a long and cold winter and by the sounds of some recent headlines, it seems that we all went a little stir-crazy during it and are now acting out. The latest crime story making headlines is a sad one and it all took place in Minnesota in a Taco Bell parking lot.

Another weird "crime" story that echoes that sentiment happened in Minnesota recently. At the end of May, a man was cited for sunbathing on top of an elementary school in Savage. Staff noticed the man and called police.

When police arrived, the man told them he was simply trying to relax and read a book. Obviously, doing so on top of an elementary school is not the right way to do so. He was escorted off the property.

Of course, then there is the story of a squirrel who caused thousands in Minnesota to go without power over the weekend. The outage happened in Prior Lake and the company traced the incident back to a rebellious squirrel.

This is yet another odd crime story but this one is a little more serious. This happened in early June in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, which is a few hours from the Twin Ports. So what happened? Let's start at the beginning.

The incident happened this past Wednesday (June 1st) at a Taco Bell in the area. It happened in the late afternoon in the drive-thru and parking lot of the fast food restaurant. According to WCCO, a 59-year-old woman was becoming increasingly angry while waiting in the drive-thru and it all escalated as time went on.

One witness told police that he was in front of the woman in the drive-thru and she kept yelling at him for not moving through the fast food line fast enough. She only became more angry as time went on, eventually fleeing the drive-thru at a high speed.

That is when she struck a pedestrian in the area and drove off, leaving them with life-threatening injuries. Another person present at the time took photos of the license plate and saw the hit and run happen, helping police to find and charge the woman.

FOX 9 also reported on the crime and said the woman charged knew she was involved in a crash but said the person she hit actually ran out in front of her car. She also admitted to drinking earlier in the day.

The woman has been charged with one count of criminal vehicular operation and appeared in court Friday (June 3rd), according to Bring Me The News. Our thoughts are with the person who was struck at the scene.
