Another Northland project began on Monday, June 15, which will impact access to a portion of West Superior Street in Duluth through most of the week.

West Superior Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 20th Avenue West to 21st Avenue West to allow a contractor to install a new fire service to the building located at 2023 West Superior Street.

In addition to installing a new fire service, the City says the contractor will also repour the new concrete road surface around the area.

All work is expected to be completed on Friday, June 19, at which time that section of West Superior Street will once again be accessible for traffic.

This time of year it seems there is an endless variety of road construction, and related projects, which have an impact on travel throughout the area.  While that can be frustrating, especially if you encounter one by surprise and you happen to be in somewhat of a hurry, it's important to not let those frustrations lead to bad driving decisions.

Please keep a look out for road signs and respect the road crews who are out on the road.  They are often exposed to traffic and they rely on motorists to adhere to reduced speed limits, follow their instructions, and simply travel safely through work zones.
