How could you put these adorable faces in a cardboard box and leave them on the side of the road? The conditions were terrible, but miraculously the puppies are doing ok and recovering.

A good Samaritan saw the box on the side of the road in Saginaw, Minnesota near the Caywood Country Store.

They stopped to investigate and found the box taped up. They broke the box open and that's when they found the puppies. They were greasy, cold, and "incredibly smelly." I talked with Nicole at Animal Allies, and she said they needed to throw away the box immediately because it was so gross.

The Caywood Country store is on the junction of Highway 2 and Highway 33 in Saginaw.

The kind citizen brought the puppies to Animal Allies, where they were cleaned up and fed. The good news is the puppies appear to be healthy, and they were eager to eat. They must have been starving. Poor pups. One is a male, and the other is a female.

Just look at those floppy ears! People immediately began asking on Facebook when they would be available to be adopted. I asked Nicole, and she said they will need a couple weeks to asses what medical care they need.

How can you help in the meantime? Cases like this are an example of how much a monetary donation can help. It costs the non profit a lot of money to provide medical care. It's above and beyond what they charge for adoption fees, which is money that is used to help out animals at the shelter.

Animal Allies asks that if you are in the giving mood this holiday season, to please consider donating to Animal Allies. You can even Venmo them. Check out the information and link on their Facebook page.
