Registration is still open for the 6th annual Running For Our Heroes 5K Run/Walk, and you'll save money if you register by September 24.

The event will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28.  Registration, check-in and the start and finish line are all located at the UW-Superior Marcovich Wellness Center, at 1810 Catlin Avenue in Superior.

Registration is still open for $30 through September 24, with a $5 price increase kicking in September 25 through race day.

UW-Superior students, PK-12 students and Military Veterans can register anytime for a reduced rate of $20.

According to organizers, prizes and awards will be presented to the top three male and female overall finishers and the top three males and females in several different age categories.

There will also be a raffle drawing with prizes from local and regional businesses and sports teams. You can earn an extra entry into the prize drawing by bringing non-perishable food items for donation.

All proceeds from the run/walk will benefit the Douglas County Soldiers and Sailors Relief Fund as well as the UW-Superior VNSC Emergency Fund. Since it started, the Running for Our Heroes 5K Run/Walk has raised more than $10,000.
