Superior’s Lake Superior Elementary Nominated for National Award

Lake Superior Elementary School in Superior has been given quite the nomination. There were 8 public schools across the state that have been nominated for the United States Department of Education's 2020 National Blue Ribbon School Program. The award recognizes top performing schools based on academic performance and achievements.

Now the school must apply for the award and be reviewed by a board. Besides test scores and achievements scores, they also take in consideration a school's "exempliary Achievement Gap Closing Schools." Those are schools that rank in the top 15% across the state in closing the achievement gap according to the state report cards.

Lake Superior Elementary school is the only school in our region to be nominated. The nominations came from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
