A teenage girl celebrating her 17th birthday took a ride on a chairlift on the Jersey Shore and ended up jumping 35 feet to the sand below, because she panicked seeing a thunderstorm rolling in.

Apparently the chair lost power and had stopped, the girl was afraid she was going to get struck by lighting , so she kicked off her shoes and jumped. Thankfully she was not seriously injured, she walked away with a few bumps and bruises.

How scary for her, and on her birthday none the less. But, she had a lot of luck on her side that she was not seriously hurt. With the the extreme weather we have seen all over the country this summer, I can't blame her for wanting to risk jumping instead.
